Classes here at Palacky University are similar yet different when compared to UNK classes. Our classes are usually, but not always, from 3:00 pm - 6:30 pm. This allows us to have our mornings free for homework, laundry, and running other errands. On Friday's we have class from 9:45 am - 1:00 pm and many times we leave right after class for our personal weekend excursions. Our classes consist of many lectures and then our language class. Lectures vary in topics, some of them being: economics, history of Europe, the Shoah, diversity of individuals in Europe, and politics just to name a few! Many times, classes at UNK are lecture based as well, however, other non-study-abroad Palacky students have said their classes are very interactive. One of our floor mates goes rock climbing for class or many times they are cooking traditional Czech dishes. Sounds like we need to adopt more of that curriculum into ours ;).
.
Language class is a favorite for many of the students in my class, because it is more interactive and we get to laugh at all the pronunciation mistakes others make! We are required to order at restaurants and bakeries in Czech for our tests, which again, most of the time we are laughing at our poor communication skills. Many times we will watch movies that pertain to our class trips that weekend or visit museums around Olomouc. Overall, it is a nice contrast compared to UNK classes, although, I am excited to return to my social work oriented classes!
Thanks for reading!! My time here in Czechia is dwindling....although I have many more adventures awaiting!!
